Data throughput
Data throughput is the speed of successful data delivery over a network. To test data throughput we use the Multi-User Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) data streaming features.
MU-MIMO technology enables many users to access a wireless network at the same time. It prevents network lag which slows user access to the network. The 802.11 protocol serves network users on a first-come-first-served basis. Congestion occurs when several users access the router at or near the same time.
The MU-MIMO throughput test uses three identical Acer Aspire R13 laptops. In the close-proximity (same-room) test, the RT-AC5300 averaged a total throughput speed of 188Mbps. The RT-AC5300’s score of 141Mbps in the 30-foot MU-MIMO test beat the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300.
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 scored 225Mbps on our close-proximity test, beating the RT-AC5300. At 30 feet, its score of 135Mbps was less than the RT-AC5300.
You want consistent data delivery from a network. Even when you have many users connected on the network you do not want the speed to deteriorate. Both the Acer routers will give you consistent fast data throughput.
The differences between them are not significant.
