– So you want to find out more about One Computer Guy –
The Beginnings:
It started in the early spring of 1995, when I was struggling to find up-to-date, reliable information about the new operating system Windows 95. I wanted to learn more about the internet, HTML, and the processes that go into a computer. Information was hard to find, and most of the information that was available was inaccurate or obsolete.
So I took action, bought a domain, and got web hosting. I didn’t realize then how much work would go into the website, nor how much would change over the next few decades. This is one of the longest-running Windows websites (other than Microsoft, of course) on the internet and it is still completely free.
Over the years, I’ve changed the scope and look and feel of the website as times have changed. I try to keep everything as user-friendly and fast as possible because I know people just want to get information and get out. Still, I hope that you find insight and information here.
Our readership has changed over time. What started out as beginners just trying to get some basic information about Windows and computers, has shifted into the full spectrum of people who truly are just starting out to those who are looking to build their own computers and rigs. My aim is to serve all of them.
We’ve changed, too. As more and more people started to pay attention to technology, gaming, computer building, and everything that goes into it, I was running out of daylight to keep myself educated on the newest tech offerings, review new products, try gaming systems and gear, and keep the website updated.
So I’ve brought in help from people who were genuinely interested in all things computer and gaming. These are people who have a genuine interest in the topics they cover. Their days are spent investigating new products, hanging out in forums, and actually using the tools they recommend.
Of course, I’m still writing and providing insight where I can – this is a passion that isn’t going to end anytime soon. I just have a few more people helping me out.
The main goal of our website stays the same. We want to provide consistent, accurate, understandable, and up-to-date information that is easy to find regarding everything to do with computers, gaming, building your own rig, and spending time online. We make product recommendations, review without bias, and provide our insights to you for free. Our team stays on top of the latest and greatest trends to help you make buying decisions.

Noel is a writer, content creator, and marketing professional. She has been writing for nearly a decade, with a focus on software, computer building, and technology along with other topics. Her favorite thing to do online is read through message boards and see people arguing about mundane topics such as processor speeds and what type of gaming mouse is the best option.
In her daily life, she also serves as the “tech expert” for her entire family – whether that means resetting the Wi-Fi or figuring out how to replace thermal paste. She’s a lover of reading, building, shopping, theater, and games.

How To Use Our Website
Our articles are written and edited by people who offer insights to novices and experts, trying to cut through the sales speak and unreliability of other websites and give you clear-cut informative content. Articles are long enough to be informative but have very clear sections so you can get the answers that you want.
Our “how-to” articles offer steps that are simplistic and easy to follow so that you never lose your place when trying to fix your gaming system or computer.
We have organized everything so that you can easily navigate the website and get to the information that you want to see. If there is ever anything that you want to know about, but you don’t see an article about it yet, you can always contact us and we will set our experts on it.
What We Don’t Do
In order to remain relevant, our team has had to make some changes over the years. We try to keep the use of graphics to a minimum in order to keep load speeds high and make this a pleasant experience for you – but we have added in tables and some images in places where we think they are necessary.
Our graphics are screenshots from actual team members who have created them to show installation, configuration, and solutions for users.
We also don’t try to sell you on products that we think aren’t good just to make a profit. There are plenty of amazing products out there, and you don’t need to buy things that won’t help you perform better. That’s how we’ve cultivated a following over the years: our opinions are truthful.
Even though we have grown, we never want to lose the community feeling. There is no question too silly or detail too unimportant for our team. We will always cover every topic thoroughly and without judgment.
